About Me
After spending over 20 years in the retail industry followed by another 20 years as a retail consultant, it was time to trade in the frequent flyer miles for new camera equipment. My enthusiasm for photography began in my teens when I spent hours in a hunting blind or fishing boat. I was an outdoors person. But as I grew older, I began carrying a camera instead of a shotgun or rifle. Still today, I think one of the most beautiful sights in nature is watching a duck curl its wings and glide in for a landing.
I’m also a huge sports fan. My Dad has had a big influence on my interest in sports. In addition to being my Little League baseball coach, we would go to many events. His attraction to motorsports carried over to me. For several years we attended IndyCar races in Milwaukee. He also took me and my younger brother to our first NASCAR race in Charlotte.
Today, living in Florida provides amazing photo opportunities. Magnificent and diverse wildlife and plant life. The furor of Mother Nature with her spectacular lightning shows. The turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of America. Florida hosts many world-class sporting events. There are major motorsports happenings with IndyCar in St. Petersburg, IMSA at Daytona and Sebring, NASCAR at Daytona, and F1 in Miami. Professional sports teams are in Tampa, Miami, Orlando, and Jacksonville. Major championship events that have occurred in Florida include multiple Super Bowls and NCAA basketball, volleyball, and hockey Final Fours. All the professional golf tours conduct several tournaments across Florida.
I have been a Canon user since the late 1970s. I still have my original F-1 film camera. My equipment today includes R5 and R6 mirrorless bodies along with RF and adapted L-series lenses. I use Gitzo tripods with Gitzo heads.
